Logofeţia pricinilor străine din Ţara Românească

Subiect: At the beginning of the 19th century both in Moldavia and Wallachia a special institution was founded: the Chancellorship for Foreign Affairs. Its main task was to judge the conflicts between the foreign subjects and the natives. This new institution also functioned as an intermediate between the Consulates-representatives of the great European Powers- and the Principality's authorities. The author of this article deals with the evolution of this institution in Wallachia: foundation, activity, leaders and employees- until 1831, when it was cancelled by the Organic Rule. The data are taken mainly from registers of sentences as well as from other documents concerning the activity of this institution.
