  • Subiect: Few Notices about the Origin and the Activity of the Archimandrite Iosif – the First Superior of the Argeş Monastery The paper critically discusses a few 16th century documents (1517-1535) which show the origin and the activity of the archimandrite Iosif, the first superior of the Argeş Monastery. The learned monk was a relative of the voivode Neagoe Basarab and the coworker of his writings as well as the secret herald of his son Theodosie. Thus the archimandrite Iosif appears to be a man of the Renaissance.
