Experimental considerations on the painting techniques of Lumea Nouă pottery

Subiect: The cultural group Lumea Nouă is defined by a painted pottery firstly documented at the mid of the last century following the archaeological excavations from the eponymous settlement from the north of Alba lulia town. The specific pottery inventory comprises vessels of small or medium dimension painted, before burning, with different tones of red on a white or creamcoloured background. Our work presents an experimental approach to reconstructing the painting techniques identified by the analysis of archaeological pottery.
