Populaţia Sălajului la sfîrşitul secolului XVIII-lea

  • Subiect: The Population of the Sălaj District during the Late 18th Century The present paper deals with the census of the population of Transylvania, ordered by Emperor Joseph II (the second) in the years (1784-1786. The first part of the paper comprises the way of registering the population according to their sex, age, legal status, followed by a short description of the social organization of the population. The second part of the paper consists of eight schedules including settlements, towns and fortresses, arranged in accordance with the former administrative organization of the district. A separate list includes places which belong to the present district of Sălaj. The purpose of the paper is to give information to the researchers about the demographical evolution of the district. The author considers that the study of the population represents the most important part of a future monograph of the district.
