  • Subiect: Aspects of the Cultural and Artistic History of the Towns Târgovişte and Bucureşti (The 15th - The 17th Centuries) From the 15th century to the 17th century the towns Târgovişte and Bucureşti were the most important political and economical and cultural and spiritual centers of Wallachia. The printing houses and the educational institutions from both the lordly towns contributed to a real “cultural renaissance”, reflected through the achievements of some remarkable reigns such as those of Matei Basarab (1632-1654) and Constantin Brâncoveanu (1688-1714). The present article tries to highlight the essential transformations in cultural and artistic fields.
