New data regarding captivity feeding of pinnipeds-Otaria byronia (Shaw,1800) (otariidae/Pinnipedia/Carnivora)

  • Subiect: „Knowledge on the food habits of pinnipeds facilitates a better understanding of their interaction with prey populations and their impact upon fishery (THOMPSON, MACKEY, BARTON, DUCK, & BUTLER, 2007; KÖNIGSON, 2007; GULLAND, J. 1987). This knowledge represents an essential source of data useful in order to maintain proper live conditions in captivity for these peculiar mammals. This paper is based on the results of the pinnipeds monitoring, carried out between 2005 and 2008, in the pools of the Natural Sciences Museum Complex Constanţa.”
