Asupra rolului algelor în hrana unor larve de Chironomide bentonice neprădătoare

  • Subiect: ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ALGAE FOR THE FOOD OF THE NON PREDATORY BENTONIC CHIRONOMIDAE LARVAE Intestinal contents in 283 larvae of Chironomidae (Tendipes f. 1. semireductus, Lenz; Tendipes f. I. plumosus L. and Glyptotendipes polytomous, Kieff.) were analysed from the algological point of view. It was found that diatomaceae constitute the group of algae most frequently met with in the food of analysed larvae. This group of algae is likewise the best digested one. The composition in algae of the silt from the two biotopes from where the larvae had been collected were qualitatively and quantitatively analysed. Within certain limits, the existence of a selectivity of silt algae was recorded, tough in the food of larvae more forms of algae were ascertained than in the respective silt.
