  • Subiect: Unedited Documents Relating to the Painting of the Madona Dudu Cathedral, Made by Painter Dumitru Norocea from Curtea de Arges One of the most prominent churches of Oltenia, until 1913 the Cathedral of the Craiova city (1863-1913), and in the late 1970s Episcopal Cathedral, currently a Metropolitan Chapel, is the Church of Virgin Mary Precesta from Dud, known in the modern era until today and with the name of Madona Dudu To be individualized from the other churches with the same craiovene hram (Assumption - Adormirea Maicii Domnului) namely Mântuleasa and Oota churches, in documents is found under the name The Great Mother Precesta - Maica Precesta cea Mare, extra name explained by the presence of icons with silver clothing, maker of wonders, from 1774, dedicated to our Lady. Oldest church is attested as early as the reign of Prince Matei Basarab and was made of wood.
