Materiale arheologice aparţinînd culturii Wietenberg descoperite la Şimleu Silvaniei

  • Subiect: Archeological Materials Belonging to Wietenberg Culture Discovered at Şimleul Silvaniei The building of a block of flats on Dunării street no. 1, in the middle of the town Şimleul-Silvaniei, disturbed some more archeological complexes. The diggings for saving made by the History Museum from Zalău established here the existence of two levels of culture: one belonging to the Dacian period and the other to the Bronze Age. With this occasion we presented the Bronze Age discovery which consists of a ditch with the diameter of 1.50 m and a depth of 0.60 m. On the bottom of ditch, a level of ash with "drops" of bronze was found, then a level! of red burned ground followed by a level of black ground containing a lot of ceramics fragments, stones, coal, ash. On the upper level of the ditch a big horn of deer was placed. The ceramics fragments discovered here belong to Wietenberg culture the 3rd phase. Concerning the chronological data, the penetration of the communities of Ottoman IV type (the Cehăluţ group) and that of Suciu ele Sus II, would bring to the ending of Wietenberg culture in Sălaj district, at the chronological stage of Reinecke Br. B. The researches concerning the Bronze Age in this part of Transylvania, are still reduced, maybe such archeological materials do not overpass Reinecke Br. C. period. The ceramics fragments from plates X-XIII are discoveries of the surface and belong to Wietenberg culture the 3rd stage and to the Gava culture (plate XII/5).
