  • Subiect: The aim of the study is to analyse two segments of modernization during the dualist period (urbanism and bourgeoisie) using new sources of information. Regarding urbanism, our research is concentrated on more important aspects like streets, sewerage system, lighting, traffic and the consequences of railways. On the other hand, modernization was not followed by essential changes in society structure. The lack of industry had as a consequence the increase of the middle class society; so, periods of progress and also regress can be distinguished. University and press had indeed a great impact on the époque.
