Reprezentări ale elitelor transilvănene în relaţiile călătorilor străini prin spaţiul românesc: 1683-1789

  • Subiect: Social and political relations - by their nature - include customs referring to ceremonies. Any act that has an impact upon community existence becomes a feature of a certain ceremony assuring cohesion and prosperity of the society. Involving collectivity into the sacred ceremonies, emotionally, these underline the importance of the event, especially when is of political importance, keeping in fresh memory. During Seventeenth-Eighteenth Centuries, public ceremonies constitute a proper domain for baroque manifestations, for many people are emotionally and theatrically involved. Of more dynamism and force of suggestion (for it can be often changed according to the freedom of spirit) is the ceremony of princely arrivals and diplomatic meetings. It presumes specific gestures and words. So life became an event; the human existence is revealed as art. There are lots of literary works dealing with the problem of ceremonies: Grigorie Leti-Il Ceremoniale (Amsterdam 1-IV, 1685); Ceremonies et coutumes des peoples (Amsterdam I-VIII, 1723-1743); Traite des ambassades (Rotterdam, 1726); C.Rohr-Ceremoniel-Wissenschaft (Berlin, 1729), Kronungs-Ceremoniel (1723), Le Ceremonia/ Francois (I-II, Paris, 1699-1731), Baltasar Gracian-L'Homme de cour (Augsburg, 1710). Those works imposed rules of behaviour in European courts during Seventeenth-Eighteenth Centuries.
