Contribuţii la repertoriul arheologic al comunei Ghelari (jud. Hunedoara) (I)

  • Subiect: This article brings together most of archaeological findings resulted from accidental discoveries, surface researches or systematic excavations performed within the administrative territory of Ghelari commune (Hunedoara County). The earliest discoveries belong to Coţofeni culture, four spots with representative material belonging to phase I and II of this culture have been discovered until now. The following chronological sequence is occupied by the Roman epoch, represented by different findings related to mining activity and iron metallurgy. Important in this context is the discovery from Valea Caselor where several furnaces for reducing iron ore were found.
