Daniel Luca Voina, un remarcabil ilustrator de carte contemporană

  • Subiect: The painter, graphic artist and essayist, Daniel Luca Voina (born in Mediaş in 1959) has lived in Blaj since 1983. Up to the present he has illustrated about 40 books with varied contents printed in Romania, particularly in Blaj, or abroad (Pl. I-XI). He easily adjusts his manner of execution, from book to book. His drawings reveal diverse influences: Byzantine, Surrealistic, Renaissance, Expressionistic, metaphysical etc. Their metaphorical character incites the viewer to meditation and day dreaming. The thin line moves skilfully, vigorously making up shapes while the shades and penumbras increase the mystery of image. He passes easily from metaphorical motionlessness to emotional outbursts, from intellectual rigour to the children’s gambolling and freedom. As both the quantity and quality are concerned, Daniel Luca Voina proves to be a gifted book illustrator of contemporary Romania.
