Modele de locuire în perioada târzie a epocii bronzului în interfluviul Suceava - Siret - Moldova

  • Subiect: The latest archaeological studies deal frequently with the subject of the connection between prehistoric communities and natural environment. The aim of the present study is to emphasize, based on the archaeological and geographical data, the behaviour of the Late Bronze Age communities in a macro-regional scale and to detect the habit changes resulted from the adaptation to the micro-zone topography and climate. Landscape archaeology and spatial analysis offer different methods to examine, understand and explain the prehistoric people behaviour. The way that humans settle in a region and their impact on the environment help us to reconstruct, partially and hypothetically, their way of seeing the landscape. The data base used in this analysis includes 67 archaeological sites where Late Bronze Age artefacts were discovered. QuantumGis software was used in order to gather information about the topographic and climate characteristics of the areas where prehistoric sites were located. Slope aspect, wind shelter and the distance to the closest water source were factors used to identify settlement patterns. The researched area which presents a diverse landscape is located between Suceava and Siret rivers, to the North-East and East, and Moldova river, to the West. The differences between topography, climate and hydrography but also the spread of natural resources, caused the Late Bronze Age communities to choose different models of adaptation.
