Consideraţii etnoarheologice privind un izvor de apă sărată din Subcarpaţii Moldovei

  • Subiect: The authors bring into discussion a series of historical, ethnographical and archaeological data regarding a salt water spring from Oglinzi (Neamţ County). This salt resource was known since the end of the 19th century, when were also made the first chemical analyses of its water. A special attention was paid to the modern period pottery identified within the perimeter of the salt water spring, which was analysed from the typological and functional point of view. It was seen that the great majority of the vessels were used specifically for exploiting the salted water and for the filling of the large sized recipients made of wood. Very few vessels were used for the transport of the salted water. The analysis of the modern period pottery items may provide certain clues regarding the means of use for the pottery recipients from even older historical times. The importance of this salt water spring for the human communities of that environment grew once the salt water springs from the nearby Băile Oglinzi were closed for the public, their use being only for medical purposes.
