  • Subiect: “Buna Vestire” church of the former Climent hermitage, in Pietrari, was built between 1742 – 1743 by the bishop of Râmnicu Vâlcea, Climent, and his brothers, one called „popa Mihul” (baptized as monk with the name of Macarie before his death) and another one, Simeon. At the time, „ispravnic” was Ilarion, „proegumen” of the „Bistriţa” monastery. The place where the church was built was the property of the bishop’s family. The works meant to strengthen and restore the church have allowed conducting archaeological research in the aria. 27 tombs were discovered with no inventory, on the drain and near the church wall. In th pronaos, on the right, there is Macarie’s tomb (d. 1742) made of bricks, with arch and tombstone. The vault was rebuilt and the tombstone restored on the old site. The foundation has as technical construction the dig, armed with a network of wooden belts, and it was placed in the natural shuttering. As materials, they used granitic stones and medium-sized marls which were fixed in lime mixed with sand. The archaeological material found: two bronze coins and a fastener of the Gospel. The church of the former Climent hermitage, along with other monasteries and hermitages situated in Vâlcea district, is an important tourist attraction between two main places of worship: the „Dintr-un Lemn” monastery and the „Horezu” monastery.
