Pribegi în propria ţară. Drama basarabenilor şi bucovinenilor refugiaţi în judeţul Vâlcea în tragicul an 1940

  • Subiect: The article describes the arrival of these unfortunate refugees in Vâlcea trying to escape from the red plague brought in Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina by the troops of the Soviet dictator Stalin. The large number of refugees and the lack of an evacuation plan exceeded the organizational capacity of the authorities and with all the goodwill of the local population, there were complaints about the precarious condition of Bessarabians and Bucovina people. This study deals with the relations between locals and refugees, generally peaceful (proven by the voluntary financial and material efforts), the incidents inherent in these situations, the integration of refugees into the local community, by setting up an Office of Refugees and ending with their return to Bessarabia and Bukovina, in 1940.
