Influenţe ale artei populare româneşti în opera lui Constantin Brâncuşi

  • Subiect: Constantin Brancusi was influenced by the Romanian folk traditions and he learnt how to be "traditional" in his art only after his arrival in Paris, under the influence of the modern art and especially of modern ''primitivism ". After a long intellectual evolution and great transformations, he became a ''peasant" again when trying to recuperate the senses of primary symbols through his art, senses that he had taken /rom the Romanian folklore. The ''primitive" for Brancusi greatly identifies with the complex of traditions, legends, customs and decorations /rom the Romanian folklore. His wooden sculptures show spiritual forces, resembling the primitive artistic productions. These influences /rom the folklore Romanian art are found formally as well as methodically such as the method of simplification and typical styling of the wooden peasant sculpture or of "direct carving ", practiced by the craftsmen of porch pillars. The essence of Brancusi 's work comes from the Roman ian folklore, but the technical concept suited the modern art, especially the assembly object-sculptures illustrate the blending of folk traditions and vanguard new trends.
