Obiecte vestimentare medievale timpurii la est de Carpaţi

  • Subiect: „To know the state of socio-economic and cultural development of the local society east of the Carpathians in the Middle Ages (centuries VI-XI AD.), the clothing items made of metal, bone or leather have some importance. Some objects were produced in local handicraft workshops, others were imported from the Byzantine Empire or transmitted by some migratory populations entered into these regions. The differences about the raw material from which clothing items were produced, ornamentation, size and frequency in some archeological sites from different periods, offers opportunities to establish the limits of the geographical areas in which were spread, the presence of distinctethno- cultural groups and, within them, the existence of social differences. Studying clothing objects (fibulae, buckles, buttons, belt accessories, etc.) may be defined the local traditional elements, the influences received as a result of contacts made between local and aliens, and also those perceived under existing links between the communities of the north of the Danube, in general, and late Roman and Byzantine civilization.”
