Trădarea colonelului Alexandru D. Sturdza (ianuarie 1917)

Subiect: The betrayal of the colonel Alexandru D. Sturdza (January 1917) The authors firstly present some biographical dates regarding the life and military career of Alexandru D. Sturdza as a colonel in romanian arrny. Being influenced by anti-russian and pro-german views, he betrayed his country and people, deserting to the enemy in february 1917. They demonstrate in the study the fact that this cowardly act was premeditated and unjustified. Even more than that, the colonel tried to recruit romanian POWs, especially officers from the detention camps in Germany, hoping to create an army to fight against the Russians in Moldavia. His actions failed though. Being condemned to death in absentia, he never returned to Romania, dying in exile the authorities not giving a full pardon in his case.
