The Crown Council in Sinaia (July 21st / August 3rd, 1914) The study is, first, an analysis of the circumstances in which World War I started, based on published and unpublished documents, with a particular focus on Alexandru Marghiloman's attitude and actions. The author looks into the positions of the main politica) forces as to the war in a pertinent and well argued manner. A significant part of the study is a presentation of what happened in the Crown Council convened by King Carol I in Sinaia on July 21st / August 3rd, 1914. The author reflects mostly on the view of Alexandru Marghiloman who was a firm supporter of proclaimed neutrality. The head of the Conservative Party though stayed a supporter of Romania's entering the war with the forces of the Triple Alliance.
