„Adevărul” despre moartea lui Alexandru Marghiloman (Studiu de caz)

  • Subiect: The "Truth" about the death of Alexandru Marghiloman (Case Study) The death of Alexandru Marghiloman, a remarkable figure of the Romanian public life, with a laborious political activity in the last quarter of the 19th century and the first two decades of the 20th century, occurred „on Sunday [May 10th, 1925], 5:40, in his castle, Albatros, near Buzău", and became a first-page subject in the national press, both in the capital city and the provinces. Among the many Romanian newspapers that wrote about the fatal event, the author of this paper chose the Adevărnl daily newspaper, one of the most representative publications in terms of circulation, coverage, balanced content, journalistic approach and diversity of infonnation. Adevărnl, founded by Alexandru Beldiman, was first published in Iaşi, in December 15th, 1871 - April 15th, 1872, then in Bucharest, coming out on and off, until December 30th, 1937, when it was suppressed, together with other newspapers - Dimineaţa and Lupta - by the Goga - Cuza government. Relying on the ample articles in the said publication, mainly those published in May 10-20, 1925, but also those published before and after the fateful event, the author renders a most truthful portrait of the Buzău politician. Besides the reports of journalists in Buzău and Bucharest, evocative articles were published and signed by prestigious publicists and journalists - Constantin Bacalbaşa, C. G. Costa - Foru, Barbu Lăzăreanu, B. Brănişteanu etc. Members' of Parliament speeches, letters and other documents of the late politician, some of them less known and not included in general or special works, were also published.
