Făgete carpatine de joasă altitudine în regiunea Culmea Codrului

  • Subiect: Culmea Codrului or the Făget hills represent remnants of a sunken chain of mountains. Its height is rather modest (580 m). The geological substratum is made up of various crystalline rocks. The soil are forest brown ones. Their fertility ranges from moderate to weak. The climate of the area is temperately semi humid with Central European influence. The region is largely covered with the forest. Taking into account the geographical location and the main associations, the analysed area is part of a segment of transition from the nemorose zone to the forestier altitudinal belt. Forests of different types make up a mosaic. Their distribution is conditioned not as much by the altitude as by the regional distribution of the ecological factors, out of which the exposure and the degree of slope steepness are the mast significant.
