  • Subiect: The senses of economical life after conquering political independence. Fighting for an „Internal Plevna” The first decade of politica! independence had to sum up the efforts of the entire nation for conquering the economica! independence also. This was the decade which included the process and the effort to reach, through our own struggle, after the political Plevna, an economical Plevna, to reach the liberation from the trade and customs subordination to other states. It was all about organizing, on the scale of the whole country, the tenacious endeavouring which, after the historical fights from Plevna, Griviţa, Rahova and Smîrdan, was to lead to independence in the economica! field also. But - as C. A. Rosetti underlined in December 1877, on the occasion of the victory won at Plevna, underlining made up in the spirit of the radical democratic and militant tendency, of transforming in life the claimings from 1848 - the conquering of the "internal Plevna" was, unfortunately, more accessible than the famous fortress defended by Osman Pasha. It was not just a mere aphorism, but a very serious matter. Considering it entirely, the reference decade simplified Roumania passing from the state of political independence to the situation of economi­ ca! freedom, to harmonize the productive activities with the cultural ones, to multiplying the efforts for modernizing and hurrying the actions with.naţional character, aiming at the building of the unitary state.
