O piesă de mobilier din colecţia de artă orientală şi extrem orientală Dr. Marcel Vainfeld

  • Subiect: The form and the decorative repertory characterizing the piece of furniture we are presenting here confer it unicity in the whole of the ornamental art existing in the national cultural patrimony. The cupboard is made of three varieties of wood (oak, cherry and lime). It is made up of two parts: the main part and the fixing pedestal ( sheet no. 1/pictures no 1, 2). The main part itself is made up of several parts which can be detached, worked separately and then assembled together. As far as form is concerned, according to the way the components are assembled and especially the upperpart, the artist reflects the type of architecture characteristic to the pagoda. The ornamental repertory is characterized by the richness of the ways of expression. It demonstrates the care of the artist who conceived and made it, emphasizing the relation existing between nature, man and Universe. The artist is not only interested in creating beauty but also in giving it a useful nature.
