  • Subiect: Ion Nestor (1905-1974) - creator of school in the Romanian archaeology The work presents the life and the work of the archaeologist and the historian Ion Nestor, the creator of the medieval archeological school from Romania. Born on 25th of August 1905 at Focşani, after graduating from high school in his native town, he followed the university studies in Bucharest, finishing in 1926. He made a specialization in pre and proto-history in Berlin and Marburg, sustaining his doctorate thesis, under the supervision of the savant G. V. Merhart, in 1932. The paper, developed, was published in 1933, becoming a reverence paper in archeology. He led the archeological research papers from Sărata-Monteoru, Zimnicea, Valea Jijiei, and then he continued the research from Dridu and Brateiu (in pre and proto-history of the Middle Age). In archeology he imposed modern methods of research. He was a distinguished university professor, he led the preparation of many post graduates. He published approximately 100 studies, articles, collaborations to treaties, encyclopedias, etc. He was distinguished with many decorations, scientific titles, etc. He received the "Vasile Pârvan" Prize of the Academy; he was a correspondent member of the many other specialty institutions from abroad. The savant Ion Nestor remains a teacher model, researcher, and a scientific guide. He was an authentic creator of school in the Romanian archeology.
