Consideraţii privind înlocuirea lui Nicolae Petrescu-Comnen de la conducerea Ministerului Afacerilor Străine al României (21 decembrie 1938)

  • Subiect: The replacement of Nicolae Petrescu-Cornnen from the romanian diplomacy took place in december 21st, 1938. The idea of his replacement from the leadership of Foreign Affairs Ministry was vivacious since the beginning of december, being part of the reshuffle tendency for the second government led by the Patriarch Miron Cristea. The political decision has been determined by the international context to which the romanian diplomacy had to adapt, after the events that took place during autumn 1938 and also by Carol II's attempt of calling to the Foreign Affairs Minister a politician with superior charisma and influence. The chosen one was Grigore Gafencu, a very well known political man, with great appreciation from the romanian political background. The ex-minister was appointed as ambassador of Romania in the Vatican, the place where he was active also from 1930 to 1932.
