Mareşalul Ion Antonescu. Ctitor al Bisericii "Cuvioasa Parascheva" din Vaslui

  • Subiect: The "Pious Parascheva " Church from Vaslui is an important historical monument in the town, founded in a time of tribulation for the Romanian people by two great military personalities from Romania: Marshal Ion Antonescu, the Romani an head of state and General of Division Ion Răşcanu, former minister of war, Mayor of Bucharest, mayor of Vaslui (1938-1942) and prefect of Vaslui (1943). Because of the fierce conditions of war and financial burdens of the town, the construction of the church was possib/e in the period 1937-1943, due to the generosity of the two personalities mentioned above. By the struggle of the parishioners, the church was built from pressed brick on a reinforced concrete foundation, with belts and reinforced concrete pillars having an inscribed Greek cross plan. The church has three towers from ga/vanized tinplate and is plastered externally with stane dust and inside, especially on the threshold is painted in the fresco technique by the painter C. Niţulescu from Bucharest.
