Ctitoria spătarului Ştefan Angheluţă: biserica "Naşterea Maicii Domnului" din Chiţoc (comuna Lipovăţ, jud. Vaslui)

  • Subiect: Between 1849 and 1855 by spătar Stefan Angheluţă and his wife, Smaranda, in the northern part of the village, bordering the forest. Between 1857 and 1874 the church had one of the most famous private schools in that area, with more than 100 pupils, created and maintained by the founder. The three teachers followed the curriculum used in primary schools from the city and, in addition to that, taught vocal music and religious songs. This was the school where I. Antonovici, the next bishop of Husi (1924-1931), had learnt. After the death of the founder, who was a philanthropist (1800-1876), former chairman of Eforia Vaslui (1853), the first president of Vaslui Local Council (1860), founder of“Dormition of The Virgin Mary” Church in Bahnari, Vaslui (1860-1862) and endower of “Sf. Voievozi” Wooden Church in Tanacu (1826), the church in Chiţoc was administrated by former owners and the community and became a parish in 1894.
