Consideraţii asupra unor aspecte culturale medievale timpurii de la est de Carpaţi

  • Subiect: First of all, there is the handmade pottery ware from the 6th to the 10th centuries AD discovered in Eastern Carpathians and in other areas of North Lower Danube, considered by archaeologists to be of Slavic origins. Another aspect of material culture is that of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic miniature figurines of clay, found in settlements dating from the 7th to the 9th century. They are not of Slavic origin, as was assumed, but of nomad origin made for apotropaic purposes. They were brought here together with fine polished ceramics and handmade pottery, with anthropomorphic, zoomorphic and geometrical decorations that were encrusted before they were burned or after they were made. Maybe the clay miniatures and the aforesaid types of ceramics were brought to Eastern Carpathians by some groups of Alani.
