Din parcursul unei companii de înfanterie române pe frontul de vest

  • Subiect: Beginning of the 24 August 1944, the Romanian Army fought alongside the Soviet Army against the German Wehrmacht and his allies in Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Austria. This workpaper contains few informations about how was seen this campaign by inside of a small Romanian unit, the heavy weapon company of the 26th Infantry Regiment, part of the 2nd Infantry Division, fighting in Hungary for the crossing over the Tisza river, on the Budapest streets, and next until in the Fatra Mountains, in Czechoslovakia. Together the written sources – used mainly for technical background, some veteran’s testimony were inserted, many of them quite different from the official triumphalist version. Despite the organisation, equipment and logistic shortcomings, our soldiers continuously increased their battle skills, reaching a great capability and outpassing the campaign difficulties.
