Contribuţii la repertoriul descoperirilor aparţinând culturii Petreşti din bazinul Mureşului Mijlociu

  • Subiect: CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DISCOVERIES BELONGING TO PETREŞTI CULTURE FROM THE MIDDLE BASIN OF THE MUREŞ RIVER The aim of the present study is to include in the special literature new archaeological sites where artifacts belonging to Petreşti culture were found. Surface research (in 1996) and a stratigraphic survey (in 2000) were carried out at the site called Oarda - Şesu Orzii (administratively, Oarda belongs to the municipal town of Alba Iulia). Painted pottery sherds, specific to Petreşti culture phase A-B, were found there, as well as the remains of a surface dwelling. Following the archaeological rescue excavation carried out in the summer of 2004, an isolated hole containing adobe, bone remains and pottery was discovered in Alba Iulia, Clujului Street, without number. According to the composition of the paste, the shape and decoration of the pottery, we can ascribe it to Petreşti culture. We have found fragments of keel-shaped bowls, as well as fragments of pots and tureens. The painted pottery fragments are specific to Petreşti culture phase A-B, thus allowing us to definitely ascribe this complex to the above-mentioned culture.
