Constantin Brâncoveanu ”numai de sânguratic neamul lui”

  • Subiect: Constantin Brâncoveanu „only by his family” The paper is aiming at presenting the history of Constantin Brâncoveanu, Prince of Walachia between 1688 and 1714. Brâncoveanu belonged to a noble family, his paternal branch having roots in Oltenia, in other words, in the south west part of the country, while his maternal ancestors came from Byzantium- Constantin Brâncoveanu’s cursus honorum followed local tradition, which means that he had the opportunity to accede to a certain number of dignities. The Romanian Prince is known in history for both diplomatic skills and for cultural achievements. After a long reign, unusual in his time, he died as a martyr.
