Analize mineralogice şi determinări petrografice ale unor unelte şi aşchii descoperite în aşezarea de la Rupea 7 - Părăul Mălinilor (Comuna Homorod, Jud. Braşov)

  • Subiect: Mineralogics and petrographic analysis in the archaeological site Rupea 7 – Mălinilor valley, Homorod, Braşov county Located in the south-east of Transylvania (in the north of Braşov County) the archaeological site known as Rupea 7 (Mălinilor Valley/Rinnenberg), was introduced in the archaeological literature in 2015. Subsequent field archaeological research allowed identification an interesting and rich archaeo-geolithical material, of Neolithic artifacts belonging to the Starčevo-Criş culture and from the Copper Age (the Petreşti culture), and other historical periods from the geographical area of the city of Rupea. For some macroscopically selected artifacts from a batch of lithic pieces, to be analyzed under a microscope to determine the nature and composition of the petrography, GPS coordinates were taken (samples G2, G6, G7, G8, G10, G12). All the samples selected for the petrographic analysis (samples G1-G14) were studied macroscopically, noticing a striking structuraltextural resemblance between them, also composition and color (gray); from a lithic point of view they represent sedimentary rocks, framed petrographically to fine sandstone, until semicoarse. As a consequence, two samples were retained: one representative for the type of fine sandstone (G1) and another for the semi-coarse sandstone (G13); from these were made microscopic preparations (thin sections), which were examined. The samples received for examination are entirely fragments of carved tools (scrapers, chips, end scrapers), with the semipolygonal section (having unequal and imperfect dimensional sides), obtained by splintering (striking), having a flat base about 20 mm and an average height of approx. 7-8 mm
