  • Subiect: In the second half of the 19th centwy there were several green locations in the central area of the town. A longside with the Public Garden there was also a "Small Garden" or the "Townhall Garden " situated on Park Street. Made up of a few alleys with geometrica! shapes, lawn, bushes, flowers and some trees, this garden lzad an area of about 2000 square metres. With a much more generous area, but not well taken care of, there was also the Domneasca Park, situated on the place of a former square and mentioned in a town plan from 1851. Next to the park there was a square named Domneasca Square and later on, between the two World Wars, known as the Union Square. The Domneasca Park was again redesigned in 1934 and in its central area tlzey put a bronze statue of the philantropist Stroe S. Belloescu. Afterwards, between 1 952-1 953 the park was named the Park of the Soviet Heroes, being again redesigned. Next to the park, in front of the Townhall, they built a semicircular square and in 1 965 a fountain and two lawns. The park and tize square were meant to highlight tize Domneasca Clzurch and the Townhall. The park disappeared after tize building of the House of Unions "George Tutoveanu " and the alterations undergone by the main traffic artery in town, between 1972-1973.
