The Commemoration of Heroes from Comarnic (1920-1947):1nstitutions, Actors, Practices

TITLU în română: Comemorarea eroilor din Comarnic (Prahova): instituţii, actori, practici (1920-1947)
Subiect: The topic of this article is clinked to the different ways of commemorating the war heroes in Comarnic (Prahova) that took part in both world wars. The sacrifices made by soldiers remained in the collective memory and their descendants have remembered those acts of courage. The practices promoted by the inhabitants of Comarnic varied in the years between 1920-1947: charitable acts for widows and orphans; organising religious processions at the heroes' graveyards; building monuments in their remembrance. Regardless of the commemorative policies imposed by the politica! regime, the church and the school were institutions which never missed these activities, being a model of civic implication for the entire city. The main actors involved in al! the festivities were the priests, professors, the pupils. Even though the law established the order of the festivities on a national levei, these were taking place differently in different places according to each individual city.
