Consideraţii asupra limitelor cronologice şi teritoriale ale stăpânirii lui Mircea cel Bătrân (I)

  • Subiect: Wallachia's Hungarian frontier stretched in 1386 along the Carpathian watershed, from the Iron Gates to the Vulcan Pass, being set up definitely in 1406 and 1420. It included afterwards the small Alpine demesnes of the Sibiu County, and followed the flow of the river Olt, frorn Turnu Roşu to the straits of Baraolt. Once more, it followed the divide in the Carpathians, between Konigstein (Piatra Craiului) Mountains and the Buzău Pass. The Buzău stream separated Wallachia and Moldavia frorn 1400 on. After 1391 their common frontier joined the Danube, from Brăila- down to the rnouth of Chilia. After 1390 the Wallachians controled Banat's mountains and castles, with the city of Severin. Southwards, up to 1396 the Danubian frontier with the Empire of Vidin passed beyond the river, between the Iron. Gates and Nicopolis. Eastwards, the Silistra citizens, submitted to the Wallachian sway after 1388 and 1408, kept hold some beach heads on both sides of the Borcea branch of the Danube, between 1417 and 1421, but the eastern plains of Wallachia, left-side of the river, wee already under prince's rule after 1408 or 1412.
