Subiect: „Ţara Oltului is one of the largest and most individualized ethnographic
areas from Transylvania. Traditional settlements have developped
according to landforms, to traditional occupations specific to the region, to
the social status of the population. The inhabitants practiced agriculture,
cultivated technical plants, practiced animal husbandry, viticulture,
beekeeping. Among the means of transportation used, two types of big four-wheeled carts had a wide spread in this area: the „cart for the field work" and the
„three quarters carriage". The author presents in this study, for each type,
the spreading area, the characteristics, the terminology, the morphofunctional
and technical modifications, the structures, the way the burden is carried, the capacity of transportation. Due to modernization, essential changes have been noted for the means of traditional transportation too.”
