Proiecte de federalizare în imperiul habsburgic

  • Subiect: Federalization Projects in the Habsburg Empire Before 1848 the union oi the Austrian monarchy, of a very complicated structures, was very much alike a dualist type of. state. This evolution led to a debate concerning the national organizational problem, as the Hungarian aristocracy tried to impose in the other countries, governed nearly in an absolutist way, a national Hungarian state. This fact brought about the opposition of the other nationalities living in Hungary (Romanian, Serbs, Slovaks, Germans etc.). They would have liked to change the supenationalised Hungarian state into a modern one, with nationalities (peoples) equal in rights, like Romanians, Slovaks, Ruthenians and the Germans outside Transylvania, and partially autonomous Serbs. As a consequence, various federalization plans sprang up. The present paper deals with some of these plans drawn up by nationalist public figures like fr. Palacky (Czech), Og. Oszrozinsky (Croatian), K. Renner (Austrian), R. Charmotz (Austrian), A. C. Popovici (Romanian); as well with the impact of these plans on the governing political circles.
