Expresia moleculelor HLA DR în tumorile maligne tiroidiene - studiu imunohistochimic

  • Subiect: In the immune response against thyroid cancer might be important aberrant expression of HLA class II antigens and infiltrating lymphocytes. Our study was performing on 31 malignant tumors: 23 cases of papillary carcinoma, 4 cases of follicular carcinoma, 2 of anaplastic carcinoma, one case of thyroid sarcoma and one of medullary carcinoma. In all this we investigate the immunohistochemic expression of HLA DR alpha chains on tumor cells as well as expression of HLA DR molecules and CD 45 R0 on tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. Half of the papillary thyroid carcinoma and only one of the follicular carcinoma cases were positive for HLA DR on tumor cells. Neither of thyroid sarcoma, anaplastic or medullary carcinoma was positive. Number and distribution of CD 45 R0+ lymphocytes significantly correlated with aberrant HLA DR expression on tumor cells. We have also been studied the number of psammoma bodies, the amount of fibrous tissue and the extend of follicular differentiation. Only the first and the second of these histological findings were associated with aberrant expression of HLA DR on tumor cells. Our study indicates an active but variable immune response in thyroid carcinoma.
