Particularităţi clinice, diagnostice, terapeutice şi evolutive în feocromocitom

  • Subiect: Pheochromocytomas are tumours arising from catecholamin-producing chromaffin cells in the adrenal medulla and represent rare causes of hypertension. Improvements in diagnosis, localization, management and treatment of pheochromocytomas are being driven by recent leaps in understanding of the genetics and biology of these tumours, coupled with advances in analytical chemistry and tumour localization. Surgical resection is the treatment of choice for pheochromocytoma. Before surgery, medical management should be initiated using a drug with alpha-adrenergic blocking activity. This article attempts to present our experience in diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytomas.
