Alternative în metodologia restaurării şi conservării uniformelor militare

  • Subiect: Each textile based piece presents the conservation and restoration needs on the degradation suffered over time due to the environmental factors and conditions incurred in the periods when they were functional. The restorer and conservator must take into account all the results of the analyses performed on the constituent materials, the resistance of the textile sublayers on which treatments are applied and take permanent care of the exposure conditions of the storage spaces in which they will return after restoration. In this paper we highlighted a few textile pieces namely Romanian and foreign military uniforms from different time periods, representative for the collections they belong to. From the point of view of the complexity of the media, the materials they are made of, the accessories that complete them, restoring them to their true value and historical importance, documentary and museum (medals, badges, epaulettes, degrees, belts, port arms, Aiguillettes etc.), restoring these military uniforms actually reflects the importance of preserving the heritage and each object in particular. The fact that many military uniforms belonged to the political and military field has a direct impact on the course of history of our country, even if they were merely participants in battles and wars, the Romanian people was involved willingly or unwillingly, according to the major decisions of the politica/ and military powers of the time, further enhancing the value of the collections to which they belong and hence uniqueness of the heritage of the 'King Ferdinand I' National Military Museum. What individualizes this paper is the textile of the same structure i.e. wool fiber (cloth) and the same support, silk (salin) and cotton lining, various interventions having been made following the encountered degradation. They were made to support the restoration and consolidation of the tunics and cloth linings, tampering the accessories, cleaning treatments for the tunic 's fabric and then reassembling the linings and accessories. Due to strong degradation of the linear support structure (dehydration and loss of fiber strength) to one of the tunics, the need was to completely replace the lining material similar in structure and colour (brown blue). This decision on the piece's extreme intervention was made with the help of the Commission melon this restoration occasion. As working methods applied for these pieces, the princip Ies of compatibility, readability were kept overall as well as the aesthetic image and integrity.
