Aspecte biogeografice semnificative pentru judeţele Vaslui şi Galaţi

  • Subiect: Significant biogeographical aspects in Vaslui and Galaţi counties The paper analyses some southern floristic and faunistic species of biogeographical importance for both counties (Quercus frainetto, Fagus taurica, Fagus orientalis, Streptopelia decaocto, Passer hispaniolensis, Oenanthe pleschanka, Nyctereutes procyonoides, Canis aureus, Cervus elaphus, Dama dama), some of which are invasive ( e.g. the jackal). Others, the roe deer in Vaslui County and the fallow deer in Galaţi County, have been introduced by man. The sites in which Caucasus beech and Crimea beech have been identified represent a bridge between the stations of North Dobrogea and of the Central Moldavian Plateau. As valuable are the sites which shelter three beech species (Fagus sylvatica, Fagus taurica and Fagus orientalis). The "Red Book of Vertebrates in Romania", lists Canis aureus, Cervus elaphus and Dama dama which, according to the International Union for Nature Conservation (U.I.C.N.), are designated as "vulnerable" species.
