O monedă macedoneană descoperită la Fedeşti (com. Şuletea, jud. Vaslui)

  • Subiect: „The study presents a posthumous bronze coin of Philip II with Apollo's head on the obverse and on the reverse a rider to the left and the letter N under the horse. The coin was discovered in the village of Fedeşti, at the point "Şeptel", being handed over to the "Vasile Pârvan" Museum in Barlad. Generally, such coins are found in Dobrudja, in hoards and isolated discoveries. Their presence here is related to the extension of Macedonian authority over the West-Pontic Greek colonies. Only very few Macedonian bronze coins were found in the “barbarian” territories of the northern Danube. Thus the occurrence of a bronze coin of Philip II in Moldova of the coin we are studying is a remarkable fact. We try to prove, with arguments, that this coin might have belonged to the well-known Histrian coin hoard (of the "Apollo/Fedeşti" series), also found in Fedeşti, in a settlement located in the "Recea" point.”
