Izolarea politico-diplomatică a României ca urmare a evoluţiilor externe şi a pierderilor teritoriale din vara anului 1940

  • Subiect: In the history of the Romanian people, the year 1940 marks a tragic moment not only through the complexity of the events that had taken place but also through their intensity and their consequences. The swnmer of 1940 meant, unfortunately, the end of the dream of the Romanian diplomacy in the interwar period - the building of a doctrine for an own externa! policy, a dream that through its general objectives had as a jinality the consolidation of the Roman ian unitary national state realised in 1918. What we try to emphasize in the next paper, the political- diplomatic isolation of Romania, at the start of the second world conjlagration, was due to a complex of internai and externai factors, some of them acting a long time before, others defending in the summer of 1940. "The great Romania", the millennial dream of an entire nation, that had fought and sacrificed for realising this, crashed in a few weeks. On external way, Romania needed, in this way, to re-orientate its external policy going an the way of "adaptation to reality ", becoming clase to Germany and hoping that Germany could guarantee its independence and integrity of what remained from it.
